With sons entangled in cases, Badri slams Pattnaik siblings

Anandapur: Politics heated up in Ghasipura constituency in Keonjhar after two sons of BJD leader and school and mass education minister Badrinarayan Patra were entangled in cases.

Badri sharpened his attack on the PPC president Niranjan Pattnaik and his brother Soumyarnajan Pattnaik who belong to the same area.

“The two are experts to turn truth into fib and the vice versa,” he added. For many years, Badrinarayan Patra continues to exercise his dominance in Ghasipura constituency. No other parities have been successful so far here.

It is the home turf of Patra’s rival and PPC president Niranjan Pattnaik. With elections round the corner, Pattnaik has reportedly been trying to broaden his support base by cornering Patra on different issues.

In the wake of certain incidents, leaders of other parties are in the act to put Patra on the mat and weaken the BJD. The arrest of Debasish Patra, the elder son of Badri, has provided ammo to rival leaders to attack the BJD leader.

Debasish is in jail for his alleged involvement in several cases while his brother Debapriya was recently accused of an attack. The political atmosphere in Ghasipura was surcharged over two incidents.

If the accusation against Debapriya stands vindicated, the trouble for Patra will grow. In the event of the case against Debapriya being proved false, the clandestine role of Badri’s rivals will be suspected.

Political grapevines have it that a big conspiracy has been hatched to weaken BJD and marginalise Badri. Rivals are working overdrive to sully the image of Badri before the electorate and that is why they are playing to the gallery ahead of polls.

Meanwhile, Badri has broken his silence and slammed the PCC president and his brother Soumyaranjan who has recently been made an RS member from the BJD.

“Living life independently is too difficult in Ghasipura constituency. Niranjan decides what is to be done and FIRs are lodged in police stations as per his instructions while his brother Soumyaranjan highlights the cases in his newspaper and TV channel,” Badri said here Thursday.

Sharpening his attack on the siblings, Badri termed the two as Mahapurusas (great men) and Kalakars (artistes). “The two are experts to turn truth into fib and the vice verse. Their kin have taken Rs 40 lakh loan years ago from cooperative societies against documents of 14 acres of land, but many years have passed, they have paid off the loans,” Badri asserted.

He also said there are several other shocking incidents in which the Pattnaik family was involved.  He added that he has faith in the police who will rightly look into the matter.
