Bhubaneswar, June 14: Frustrated at the slow progress of her case, industrialist Trailokya Mishra’s daughter-in-law came out in public to allege her husband often assaulted her after she declined to his proposal for wife-swapping.
“I thought my father-in-law and mother-in-law will support me when I told them about my husband’s strange demand, they said: ‘‘bade ghar mein aisa hota hai (these things happen among the rich),” Lopamudra Mishra, Trailokya Mishra’s daughter-in-law said.
Trailokya Mishra is also the main promoter of Nayagarh Sugar Complex Ltd, a plant that manufactures sugar, ethanol and bio-fertilizers. Lopamudra was married to Trailokya’s son Sabyasachi in 2006. She said her family had given `10 lakh as dowry to her in-laws. “But, it was never enough for them,” Lopamudra said.
“For our honeymoon, we went to Port Blair, where he asked me to sleep with a foreigner as part of wife-swapping pact. He assaulted me on our honeymoon trip when I refused to do it,” Lopamudra said.
She alleged her husband also forced her to drink alcohol. “By 2014, I knew he was arrested in a sex scandal six years before our marriage and since then he had continued his relationships with prostitutes,” Lopamudra alleged.
Lopamudra alleged she had lodged an assault case with Kharvel Nagar police and another at Mahila police station but no action was taken a month after I lodged the complaint.
She said Sabyasachi will leave India Wednesday and she wanted the police to act as soon as possible. Trilokya or Sabyasachi was not available for comment. DCP Satyabrata Bhoi said Mahila police are investigating the case.
