Kujang: A woman was killed as her house was gutted down in a major fire mishap which broke at Banikunda village in Pankapal panchayat near Kujang Wednesday night.
The deceased was identified as Minati Sahoo (60).
According to reports, the deceased and her husband Ishwar Sahoo were inside the house when the mishap happened.
Though Iswar successfully came out of the house, his attempt to save his wife proved futile.
Within a few minutes, the fire engulfed the house completely and burnt the woman alive.
A lot of important documents, money worth lakhs of rupees and two vehicles have been reduced to ashes.
The exact reason for the fire is yet to be ascertained.
On being informed, the local police rushed the spot and started an investigation.
