Puri: A woman died and five others sustained severe injuries after the van they were travelling in fell into a roadside canal at Jagannath Sadak square on Puri-Brahmagiri National Highway Saturday morning.
The deceased was identified as Kamini Prusty (21), a resident of Radhagovind lane at Markandeswar Sahi her.
One of the injured has been identified as Lipsa Mohanty.
According to reports, six teachers from St Xavier School at Bentpur in Brahmagiri were going to their school from here in the van.
The accident occurred when the van driver lost control while giving way to a truck.
Kamini died on the spot after getting trapped under the van.
On being informed, Sadar police reached the spot, seized the body for post-mortem and rushed the injured to Puri district hospital.
