Cuttack: A woman allegedly eloped with her paramour just a day after her marriage in Muradkhan Patna area of the Silver City here.
Malgodown police arrested the woman’s paramour and produced him in the court of Cuttack Sadar sub-divisional judicial magistrate after registering a case.
However, accused Dipu Nayak was granted bail after the woman expressed her readiness to marry him. According to sources, a man from Muradkhan Patna area of the city had married a woman from Kuansa of Bhadrak June 22.
A day after the marriage, Nayak reached the man’s home and identified himself as a relative of the newly-wed woman. Nayak and the woman allegedly fled the latter’s in-laws’ house Saturday evening.
The woman’s mother-in-law lodged a complaint in this regard with Malgodown police.
Subsequently, police traced Nayak and the woman to Bidyadharpur area of the city. The duo was hiding in one of Nayak’s relatives’ house. Police rescued the woman and sent her to in-laws’ house. However, they refused to accept her.
Sources claimed that the woman was in a relationship with Nayak for last several years.
