Koraput: A woman was allegedly raped by three persons when she went for a photo shoot at a pine jungle in Odisha’s Koraput district, police said Monday.
According to Koraput SP Rohit Verma, the incident took place August 6 afternoon when the woman went to the pine forest situated along the Jeypore“Koraput road. She was accompanied by a male companion.
The survivor lodged a complaint with Koraput Sadar Police Station stating that three masked persons overpowered her male companion and extorted money from him. Later, the trio raped her and left the place, the police said quoting the FIR copy.
The miscreants were carrying knives and threatened the survivor and her friend with dire consequences if they did not give them money. They looted money from the survivor and her male companion, including some through online transfer.
The SP said one person had so far been arrested in this case and two others identified. The police have formed teams to apprehend the accused persons on the run.
Verma refused to divulge any more information as the investigation was continuing and two other accused persons are yet to be arrested.
