Bhadrak: Police Monday arrested a woman on the charge of killing her five-year-old niece at Alaudi village near Kenduapada in Bhadrak district.
A case of murder has been registered and the woman produced in court. She was remanded to judicial custody after the court rejected her bail plea. The deceased was Itishree Nayak (5), daughter of Karunakar Nayak. The accused was Archana Dhala of Rampur village under Banta block.
As per the case diary, Itishree’s body was recovered from a farm May 22. Family members suspected foul play and lodged a murder complaint with the police. Police called the family members for interrogation during which Archana confessed she killed the girl and dumped her body in the farm. She has not stated why she did so.
