Bargarh: A woman was hacked to death while her husband and two sons sustained critical injuries after four unidentified miscreants attacked them with sharp weapons at Bairakhapali village near Bijepur in Bargarh district Wednesday night.
According to reports, when the family members of Khirod Behera (50) were sleeping at their house, four bike-borne miscreants who had covered their faces with masks attacked the family and fled the spot leaving behind the two-wheeler and a shawl.
Neighbours who heard the screams of the family members reached the spot and rushed all of them to Bijepur hospital.
While Khirod’s wife, Jayashree Meher (46), died on the spot, Khirod and two sons Devendra (18) and Balaram (25) sustained critical injuries.
After receipt of information, police along with a scientific team reached the spot and started an investigation.
