Soro: In a shocking incident, a newborn boy was allegedly killed by his mother who subsequently dumped the body in a paddy field, reports said Friday. However, the woman pleaded innocent saying that the newborn died due to illness.
Tension ran high after villagers came to know about the incident. Irate village chased the woman and thrashed her for the heinous crime.
The gruesome case of mob justice was reported from Dangal Gadhia Sahi near Soro Railway Station in Balasore district.
The matter came to the fore after the video of the woman being beaten by the mob went viral on social media platforms.
“My new-born male child died due to sickness. I had given Rs 400 to a person for appropriately disposing the baby’s body. I am afraid that man played mischief,” she said.
However, the public was in no mood to buy her argument. Till last reports came in, the local police initiated an investigation into the matter.
