Oupada: A woman allegedly lost her life owing to wrong operation by a doctor at Iswarpur CHC in Oupada area of Balasore, a report said.
The woman identified as Arnapurna Padhi (28) was in the hospital for tubectomy. But it was alleged that the doctor, who conducted the operation, wrongly cut off her food pipe July 15.
As her condition worsened, she was admitted to the district headquarters hospital. However, she was shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack as her condition worsened. She died at the ICU of SCB Friday night.
However, her family members alleged that the wrong operation by the doctor claimed her life.
Angry over the incident, hundreds of locals rushed to the hospital and demanded legal action against the doctor. Tension prevailed on the hospital for hours.
The agitating people demanded Rs 10 lakh compensation. Officials and police tried to convince the agitating people.
The bereaved family was assured of Rs 4 lakh as compensation. The woman is survived by her husband and two minor girls.
