Kendrapara: In a clear break from tradition, hundreds of Muslim women of Ahel Hadis community Thursday offered special Namaj at Masjid Mohmmadi located at Ranpada-Kacheri road on the occasion of Id.
According to Nisa Ara, one of the women of Ahel Hadis community, who performed special Id prayer at Masjid Mohmmadi, stated they have observed roja (fasting) for 30 days. And Id-ul-Fitar has come. So now gala time has come. The Almighty has directed both men and women to offer mass Id payer at mosques and Idgahs.
Special arrangements were made at the Masjid mohammadi to perform special Id prayer. While Muslim women performed Eid Namaj at the mosque, male members offered prayer at Idgah located near the Masjid Mohmmadi .
Besides Ahel-Hadis community women, women of minority community groups were offered Id prayers at their houses as it has been restricted to come to mosque for performing namaj.
“We do not find anything wrong in women coming to mosque and performing namaj on Id. When, they perform namaj, men’s were strictly restricted. Separate arrangements are made for women to perform special prayer on the occasion of Id. If women could undertake the pilgrimage to Mecca and Medina then they definitely hold the right to offer prayers at a mosque. “At this point, we should not oppose the entry of women into mosques. It is a case of empowerment of women,” stated Mohmmed Sahid, Hafiz of Masjid Mohmmadi.
Minority community members Thursday observed Id ul Fitar with pomp and gaiety amid tight police security. Muslims of Kendrapara township area performed their special Id prayer (namaj) in mosques and iddgahs. Later, several Muslims paid a visit to burial ground to offer prayer for their near and dear ones. Separate arrangements were made for the women for performing special prayer on the occasion of IDD.
Several politicians are seen paying visit to Muslim-dominated villages and mohallas in order to say their wishes to Muslims. Police arrangements were made in the district in order to avert untoward incidents during Id celebrations in the communally sensitive district. Several Hindus also visit houses of Muslims and exchange sweets with them.
