Angul: A woman late Sunday evening set herself and her two minor sons on fire following a quarrel with her neighbour’s children.
The three have been left battling for life with severe burn injuries. They were rescued in a critical condition and were rushed to the district headquarters hospital (DHH). After preliminary treatment, the trio has been shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack Monday morning
The shocking incident has been reported from Sabalbhanga Kumbhar Sahi under Sadar police limits in Angul district. The victim has been identified as Bachani Behera (28), wife of Pabitra Behera.
According to reports, Bachani’s children Rahul (6) and two-year-old Abhimanyu had a quarrel with her neighbour’s children over some reason. This quarrel among the children later witnessed a verbal spat between their family members.
At this Bachani was so furiously angered that she came running to her house and locked herself and the two children. Later, before anybody could sense it, she doused herself and her two children with kerosene and set ablaze.
Seeing the fire, Pabitra and his family members broke open the door and rescued the three.
Bachani’s father-in-law, Upendra Behera (72) and mother-in-law Bhabini Behera (70) said, “Bachani has suffered 90 percent burn while the sons-Rahul (6) and one-and-a –half-years old Abhimanyu suffered 60 percent burns. The condition of the trio is critical at SCB Medical College and Hospital.”
