Bolangir: A woman and her minor son were killed while the former’s granddaughter miraculously escaped after the clay wall of their house near Municipality Colony in Rugudipada under Town police limits caved in on them early Tuesday morning.
The deceased were identified as Jashmati Markam (50) and her son Bitu Markam (10). Neighbours rescued them from under the debris but Bitu was found dead.
Jashmati was rushed to the district headquarters hospital where she succumbed to her injuries at noon. Her granddaughter Firan Markam (2) is undergoing treatment at the same hospital. According to sources, the incident occurred as the clay wall of their house which had got soaked up in rain Monday collapsed Tuesday morning. PNN
