Joda: Police Monday seized the bodies of a woman and her son from a house at Nepali Hutting in ward-1 on the outskirts of this town in Keonjhar district.
The deceased were identified as Bharati Das (76) and her son Pradip Kumar Das (33), police said, adding, they were native of Hoogly district in West Bengal while Pradip was working in a local jewellery.
According to reports, some locals found foul odour from the room.
“We spotted the light of the room was on and door was semi-closed. After entering the room Pradip was found dead while his mother was in a dying state,” said Prafulla Nayak, Anil Kumar Padhi, Suru Dhala and others. They immediately informed the police about the incident.
Police seized Pradip’s body. Bharati died on the way while being taken to the hospital, said a police official.
Meanwhile, police found four mobile phones from the room and contacted Pradip’s brother who stays at Jajpur Road.
While the body was sent to Barbil for post-mortem, the reason behind the twin deaths is yet to be ascertained, said police.
