Kendujhar: A woman trader’s blood-stained body was recovered from her showroom at Ghuturu under the Kendujhar Town police limits, Sunday.
The deceased was identified as showroom owner Archana Parida, wife of Abhimanyu Parida and proprietor of the showroom.
The couple had two showrooms namely Archana Traders and Subham Motors with one of the shops dealing with agricultural implements and EV scooters.
Archana’s brother, Ajay Kumar Barik, alleged that his sis ter was murdered. Police registered a murder case and arrested her husband and co-owner of the showroom Abhimanyu.
Tension was reported in the area and locals were seen attacking the accused.
According to police, Abhimanyu called the police station Sunday morning and informed that his wife had died inside the shop, where agricultural implements and electric scooters are sold.
Police recovered her blood-stained body and officers said there were marks on her neck.
Archana’s family alleged that Abhimanyu regularly consumed alcohol and assault ed her.
They also alleged that she was killed elsewhere and her body was brought to the showroom.
Police recovered a suicide note from the scene that reportedly asked that her husband not be held responsible. The family questioned its authenticity and alleged that Abhimanyu may have written it after killing her.
Archana from Karanjia area in Mayurbhanj district married Abhimanyu from the Handibhanga area of Joda block in 2014.
The couple has a son and a daughter and ran two business establishments in Ghuturu.
They were staying in a rented house in Baniapata area of Kendujhar town.
Kendujhar SDPO Sudarshan Gangoi said a murder case was registered under Section 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) after the family alleged that Archana was beaten to death.
Police said further investigation was underway.
Town police station officer Srikant Sahu said the body was sent to the district headquarters hospital for a post-mortem and later handed over to the family members.
