Bhubaneswar: The National Skill Development Corporation in association with the World Economic Forum will organise a workshop on closing the skill gap here Saturday, Ratnakar Panigrahi, the state head of NSDC Odisha, said at a press meet Friday.
Panigrahi said the objective of the workshop is to deliberate on the fundamental reforms in education systems and labour policies, and prepare the workforce for future jobs.
This workshop is the first step in that direction and it aims to be a platform to focus on future development of skills.
Aatish Srivastava, the deputy head of PMKK, said the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship of India and the World Economic Forum have launched a task force for closing the skill gap in India. This will bring together leaders from business, government, civil society and education and organise training fields to accelerate future proofing of education and training systems in the country.
The World Economic Forum’s Future of Jobs Report 2018 estimates that by 2022, Indian workers will require on average 100 days to re-skill themselves for jobs of the future.
Two books will also be launched at the workshop.
