post news network, Bhubaneswar, April 10: The Orissa Homoeopathic Druggist Association celebrated the 260 birth anniversary of Dr Samuel Hahnemann at the Soochana Bhawan here Friday. Dr Hahnemann’s birthday is also the World Homoeopathy Day.
Prof Dr Laxmi Kanta Nanda, former principal of Dr ACH Medical College and Hospital, who attended the programme said, “Homoeopathy is one of the safest mode of treatments. Unlike in other medicines, homoeopathic remedies do not have any side effects.”
“Many people still believe on homoeopathic treatment and prefer to visit a homoeopathic doctor. There are many areas in Orissa where people suffer from Kidney stones due to high iron concentration in water. Even after undergoing allopathic treatment they fail to recover. But it has been found that those who underwent homoeopathic treatment have fully recovered after completing the whole course of the treatment” he said.
Even after the introduction of advanced technology in allopathic treatment, homoeopathy is the most accepted way of treatment to many in this society, said Nanda.
Speaking about the overall development of homoeopathy throughout the ages, Prof Niranjan Mohanty, ex principal of Dr ACH Medical College and Hospital in his speech said, “Though popularity of homoeopathy had declined a few years ago yet it is gaining ground now. As it has no side effects and cures the problem permanently, most people prefer homoeopathy medicines over allopathic medicines. It is a fact, homoeopathy offers curative treatment to a large number of chronic ailments, which have been labeled as incurable by others.”
Toppers from six homoeopathic medical colleges were felicitated during the programme. Those felicitated include Adyasha Bal, Shradhanjali Samantaray, Neha Bhol, Rashmi Rekha Nayak, Ritupurna Nayak and Shagufta Sabri. Dr Anamika Sahu, Dr G Sai Tapasya, Dr Sunanda Kar, Dr Sourav K Patra, Dr Sanghamitra Swain and Dr Sadhana Priyadarsini were also felicitated with the best graduate awards.
