Wrong injection claims woman’s life, mob ransacks doctor’s house

Kendrapara: An alleged case of medical negligence came to the fore in Kendrapara town that claimed the life of a 20-year-old married woman.

Tension gripped Kendrapara district headquarters hospital Monday after the death of the woman as her family ransacked the house of the doctor behind the Government Girls’ High School.

Taskima Farin, wife of Mir Ramjan Bux of Post Office Lane, felt uneasy and started vomiting. Her husband took her to Dr Kulamani Baral, a medicine specialist for treatment in his house.

The doctor later sent Taskima Farin for treatment and prescribed an injection and medicines.

Ramjan Bux purchased the drug and had it administered to his wife before taking her home. His wife fell unconscious again. The family brought the woman to the District Headquarters Hospital. However, the doctor at the hospital declared the patient dead, said Ramjan Bux.

Blaming the doctor for prescribing faulty treatment to Taskima Farin, her relatives and local youths barged into the clinic-cum-house of Dr Baral and went on a rampage.
