Nabarangpur: In a heart-wrenching incident, a young couple was found hanging from a tree under mysterious circumstances at Chataguda under Umerkote police limits in Nabarangpur district Monday morning.
The deceased were identified as Indra Ganda,16, and Sushila Kalar,15, of the same village. The exact reason for the death of the couple is unknown, but the sources said the two took the extreme step as their parents were opposed to the relationship.
On the other hand, rumours did round that it might be a case of honour killing. However, nothing has been confirmed and the police have launched a probe. The bodies were seized and sent for autopsy.
According to sources, the duo was in a love relationship for long. However, their parents were not so happy about it. Under mysterious circumstances, the two were missing from their homes from Sunday.
Locals who spotted the bodies hanging from a tree in a farmland alerted the police. While the bodies have been sent for postmortem, the police are questioning the family members of the deceased regarding the incident.
Nothing can be said about the incident right now and an investigation into the case is underway, police said.
