Bhubaneswar, August 13: Twenty-two-year-old Suvojyoti Ray, a fourth year student of Kalinga Institute of Industrial Training (KIIT), was on cloud nine when he got the opportunity to gift his portrait of cinestar Radhika Apte personally to the actor during her visit to the college during a movie promotion event.
“It was a memorable moment for me. I was on cloud nine. I was always fond of Apte’s acting and persona. I decided to show my fascination through a work I believed she would like and that would remind her of me. So I decided to gift her that portrait the background of which is a forest,” said Suvojyoti.
Buoyed by the appreciation and recognition, Suvojyoti is now planning to toil hard on fine art photography. “The painting that I gifted to Radhika was a part of the fine art where I try to impose a character on an alien background. It involves fusion of technology and creative painting. I now plan to master the skills in this art form.”
Suvojyoti who has been making paintings of different genres since he was three years old said he was mulling to work on minimalistic paintings. “A few things inspire a painter and artist. I always loved minimalistic paintings where a story and feelings are portrayed with the least possible characters. The simplicity and tranquility of these paintings always inspired me. I have made several paintings but want to make many more,” Suvojyoti said.
A diehard fan of Australian painter Peter Gric, Suvojyoti is planning to join an advertisement company or designing institute after college to utilise his skills in the fields of painting and photography. “Although not many people around me support me in my endeavours, I am planning to join some advertisement firm or designing institute where I can utlise my skills and passion. Till now painting was a hobby but now I seriously want to make it a part of my career,” he rounded off.
