Rayagada: A man was allegedly killed by his son in Rayagada district Tuesday night after refusing to give him money to buy a mobile phone, police said. The incident was reported from Laliba village under Kailaspur panchayat in Chandili police limits. The deceased has been identified as Bhima Dakraka, 57, a farmer.
According to police sources, Uday Dakraka had asked his father for Rs 10,000 to purchase a mobile phone. Bhima, who depended on agriculture for his livelihood, told his son he was unable to provide such an amount. Enraged by the refusal, Uday allegedly attacked his father with an axe, striking him on the head and other parts of his body. Bhima died on the spot, police said. Bhima’s wife, Champa Dakraka, lodged a complaint Wednesday, at Chandili police station.
Following this, police registered a murder case (335/25) and launched an investigation, Chandili IIC Uttam Sahu confirmed. A police team, along with a scientific squad, visited the crime scene for examination. Uday Dakraka has been arrested, and the weapon used in the crime has been seized, officials said. The body has been recovered and sent to the Rayagada DHH for post-mortem.
