Soro: A youth hacked his mother to death in Mirpur Khaira village under Khaira police limits in Balasore district late Wednesday night. Police have arrested the accused Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Mani Sial, wife of Raghunath Sial, and the son as Jagabandhu Sial alias Bagha.
According to a source, Jagabandhu, the youngest son of Raghunath, returned home drunk Wednesday night. He picked up a quarrel with his family members.
The scene turned ugly as Jagabandhu lost his cool and started attacking family members with wooden plank and sharp weapons. To save their lives, Raghunath and his daughter came running out of the house but his wife Mani could not. She was hacked mercilessly and died on the spot.
After some time, Raghunath along with some neigbours returned to his house only to find Mani lying in a pool of blood.
On being informed, a team from Khaira police reached the spot, seized the body and sent it for post-mortem and detained Jagabandhu. The accused however, did not look repentant at all after his gruesome act.
