Youth kills father over extramarital affair

Digapahandi, May 27: A grocery shop owner was bludgeoned to death by his only son at Gokarnapur village under the police station in Ganjam district in the wee hours of Wednesday.

On being informed, Digapahandi police station inspector-in-charge Suresh Kumar Tripathy seized the body from a pool of blood. After postmortem, the body was handed over to his family members. Based on a complaint lodged by victim S Nakula Dora’s (46) brother S Sahadev Dora, police detained accused S Rabindra Dora (22) and he is being interrogated.

During interrogation, police came to know that there has been enmity between the Nakula and his son Rabindra over a number of issues. Nakula’s wife S Sateamma Dora had committed suicide a few years ago after Nakula developed an extra-marital affair with another woman. Rabindra became vindictive after the incident.

Rabindra did not succeed in the Plus-II exam and was unemployed after that. He had been asking for money from his father to start his own business and there had been regular altercations between them over the issue. A few days ago, he asked for Rs 1.5 lakh from his father to start poultry farm business. However, Nakula turned down his request. Enraged, Rabindra planned to eliminate Nakula.

While Nakula was sleeping on his rooftop late Tuesday night, Rabindra attacked his head with a sharp piece of stone and killed him on the spot. He later fled the scene. Rabindra returned his home at 7.30 am Wednesday. When he reached home, he expressed his ignorance about his father’s murder. However, during interrogation, he confessed to have killed him.
