Rourkela: A youth reportedly bludgeoned his friend to death after the latter passed comments at the former’s girlfriend. The matter came to fore Friday after the body was recovered.
The main accused was identified as Ajay Lohra (21) while two of his friends are co-accused. A case of murder was registered and a forensic team was pressed for investigation.
The deceased was identified as Ajay’s friend Puklu Oram (24), son of Jagannath Oram of Tangarpali Slum near Loknath Market.
According to sources, Lohra was in a relationship with a girl for a couple of years. However, Oram also followed the girl and passed lewd comments at her on several instances. On learning the matter from his girlfriend, Lohra asked Oram to mend his ways.
Even after repeated warnings, Oram continued to trouble the girl. Irate over his behaviour, Lohra hatched a plan to eliminate him. He included his friends Shankar Tudu (23) and Rohan Kumbhar in his plan.
The three accused called Oram to a forest and had a drinking session with him. After Oram was fully drunk, Lohra, with the help of his friends, bludgeoned Oram to death with a stone.
Later, the three accused dumped the body down a mountain and returned home. Acting on a tip off, police recovered the body and detained the three for interrogation. Further investigation into the incident was on, police said. PNN
