Bhubaneswar: A youth was arrested Thursday for posting obscene videos of his ex-girlfriend on social media.
The victim registered a complaint with Nayapalli police after finding that the videos had gone viral.
The youth was identified as Susanta Kumar Behera of Gurupriya Kalyan Mandap lane near Mayfair hotel under the Nayapalli police limits.
Sources said the duo was in a relationship for around two years since 2016. The accused had physical relationship with the girl on the pretext of marriage and had captured videos and photos of their intimate moments.
According to the complaint, the accused did not keep his promise to marry her and they broke up. However, later Behera used the videos and photos to blackmail the girl for maintaining sexual relationship with him, to which the girl refused. The victim alleged that Behera made the videos viral after he failed to continue the relationship. The videos have been doing rounds on the social media for the last few days.
Police have registered a case (280/18) under Sections 292,376 and 354 (c) of the IPC and, 66 (e), 67 and 67 (A) of the IT Act, 2005. The accused was taken on remand after being produced before the court.
