Youth solemnises wedding as mother dies

Nischintakoili: A woman died minutes before her son’s marriage when she fell down while making arrangements for the marriage. The locals, however, decided to go ahead with the marriage. The funeral was conducted on one side while the marriage was conducted on the other side. The bizarre incident was reported from Balisahi under Nischintakoili block in Cuttack district Tuesday.

According to sources, the marriage of Jagdish Nath, son of Narayan Nath was fixed with Ranjulata Behera, daughter of Chaitanya Behera of Kanhupur village under Mahanga police limits Monday night.

All the arrangements had been made and everyone was present at the marriage venue. Jagdish was seated on the dais and ready to take the vows as the priest began his hymns. Minutes before the bride would join the groom on the dais, Jagdish’s mother Sita Nath (48) fell down while busy in some work.

Family members rescued her and admitted her to a local community health centre where doctors declared her brought dead. However, the family members decided to continue with the marriage. On one side, Sita’s funeral was held while her son married on the other side.   PNN
