Malkangiri: In a barbaric act, a 19-year-old boy of Khadamguda village under Khairput block of Malkangiri district was allegedly stoned to death late Tuesday night over a love affair with a girl.
The deceased has been identified as Pabitra Khila.
The matter came to the fore after the mutilated body of Khila was found lying in a pool of blood near State Highways-49 in the locality, Wednesday morning. The body bore grievous injuries on head, for which it is suspected that he was crushed to death with stone, police sources said.
On the other hand, family members of the deceased have alleged that he had a love affair with a girl of the village and might have been murdered over the matter.
Based on a complaint by the deceased’s family members, police registered a case. The body has been sent for post-mortem and investigation into the incident is underway.
