Long time back it was rumoured that actor Deepika Padukone and cricketer Yuvraj Singh are dating one another. Now however, both are happily married. The news about the two getting hooked started doing the rounds after India won the inaugural T20 World Cup title in 2007 at South Africa.
Yuvraj had played a pivotal role in India’s success. During the tournament, he hit England’s Stuart Broad for six sixes in one over and followed it up with a scintillating knock of 70-odd against Australia. It was a tournament he could do no wrong.
All these days Yuvi, as he is popularly known in the cricket circuit, had kept mum about the alleged affair. Recently however, he has come out in the open. “I was introduced to Deepika by a common friend in Mumbai after coming back from South Africa. We liked each other and wanted to know each other. We did not spend enough time with each other to know if it was going to be a long-term thing. She moved on and so did I,” Yuvraj has been quoted as saying by the India edition of the ‘International Business Times’.
Yuvraj is now married to Hazel Keetch while Deepika has tied the knot with long-time beau Ranveer Singh. It would have been really interesting had the Deepika-Yuvi relationship last a little longer. It would have been an ideal amalgamation of cricket and badminton, as Deepika’s father Prakash Padukone was a former India No.1 in the sport.
