Bhubaneswar: Zero tolerance is our benchmark on corruption and if government officials are found involved in malpractices, stringent action will be taken against them, Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said this while paying a surprise visit to the Tehsil Office here, Tuesday. During his visit, Pujari held discussions with locals, lawyers and government officials regarding the functioning of work. He also asked the officials about their handling of the complaints as well as service delivery to the public.
Talking tough on corruption, Pujari warned officials to desist from corrupt practices. “Strict action will be taken if any proof is found about corruption or bribery in the government work,” he said. “Zero tolerance is our benchmark in this regard. Any suggestions on how to make the revenue administration more accessible to the public would be welcome. In this case, even if a common man wants to, he can directly meet the Minister and inform him/her about his/her problems,” Pujari said in response to various queries from reporters. The minister promised that a timeline would be set for land, residential, and caste certificate applications and immediate access to these services. Along with this, he directed the officials to prepare a final blueprint to ensure that common people are not harassed while coming to the office for various work and they get all the services.
