Bamra: Within three days of the Dhauli bus mishap in which over 40 passengers from West Bengal suffered injuries after their bus turned turtle, another bus mishap was reported from Sambalpur district Friday.
At least four passengers were rendered critical while over 23 were hurt after a passenger bus overturned at Kesaibahal under Bamra block here Friday. The incident occurred in the morning while the bus named ‘Sonu Patel’ was en route to Redhakhol from Rourkela via Kuchinda and Bamra.
The vehicle overturned mid-way at a curve after the driver lost control over the vehicle near a petrol pump. Luckily, no passengers were killed and no casualties were reported from the spot. However, the condition of four persons was said to be critical at the time of filing this report.
The mishap caused severe traffic snarls as hundreds of vehicles were halted and locals gathered on the spot. Police with the help of locals rescued the injured and admitted them to Kuchinda government hospital. The injured were identified as Gurucharan Munda (35), Phulamani Munda (60) of Siridi in Deogarh district, Khirodini Kishan (35) of Tukuda under Gurundia block and Madan Mohan Sahu of Gugua in Redhakhol.
Three of the injured were shifted to Burla-based VSS Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR), it was learnt.
A case was registered and the vehicle was seized while the driver was detained. Further investigation into the incident was launched. PNN
