Bhubaneswar: The biggest and oldest Rotary club of Bhubaneswar celebrated its 54th Installation ceremony at Hotel Swosti Premium here recently. Governor of Odisha Ganeshi Lal was the chief guest of the funciton.
Tanmay Mohanty, founder of Luminous Infoways took over as the President from Roshanara Begum and Bijoy Dash former executive director, Nalco as secretary on the occasion, along with the Board of Directors.
The Governor was welcomed by Jayashree the first lady of the Club and felicitated by the Club President.
The new team presented their plan for the future, which includes ‘Skilled Seniors’, a project to help provide a dignified living to the elderly.
The Governor launched the senior citizen skill registration form available at skilledseniors.org. Senior citizens can fill the form online and be a part of the skill database. In his address the Governor praised the flagship project ASHA of the club and described its activities as truly reflective of the Rotary spirit.
Rotary club of Bhubaneswar, presently having 120 members, takes pride in projects like modernization of Capital Hospital and municipality hospital blood bank, Rotary patient attendant’s rest home (Ropars) a facility running in the campus of Capital Hospital and Project Asha, which the club has been managing for about 25 years, for children of patients who suffered from leprosy earlier and have been cured since.
The Rotary Club has adopted the village ‘Kalapita’ and has nine Rotary Community Corps Centers (RCCs) in different areas. Club members regularly meet every Monday, 7 pm in the Rotary Bhawan. Besides the club conducts a free health check-up every Sunday between 7 am to 9 am for elderly, besides offering yoga facilities for all.
The key Rotary functionaries present in the Grand function were District Governor RtnBhabaniChaudhury, galaxy of Past District Governors including PDG Rtn N K Mishra, PDG AswiniKar ,PDG Rtn Rabi Nanda, PDG AB Mohapatra, PDG Brig Narayan Nayak ,PDG Ajay Agarwal , Past Presidents, Outgoing Secretary Rtn Sabita Swainand members of other Rotary clubs.
