London: Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson saved a stunning last-minute penalty from Luka Milivojevic to assure his side at least bag a point as City were held to a goalless draw against Crystal Palace in a Premier League encounter, Sunday.
Palace thought they were about to achieve a famous triumph when Wilfried Zaha was adjudged to have been fouled by Raheem Sterling in the injury time.
Zaha smiled and clenched his fists to celebrate the decision and the Selhurst Park crowd roared. Milivojevic stepped forward but Ederson kept out his spot kick, saving with his legs as the Serb aimed down the centre of the goal.
Kevin De Bruyne was carried off on a stretcher late in the game, with Gabriel Jesus also leaving the pitch injured and in tears.
De Bruyne, who has been instrumental to City’s success this season, suffered the injury after a collision with Palace’s Jason Puncheon in stoppage time and left the pitch on a stretcher, with his right leg in a brace.
Earlier in the match, Jesus landed awkwardly, and had to be withdrawn. He made his way to the dressing room in tears, consoled by City’s medical staff.
The extent of the injuries has yet to be determined but with the Premier League leaders having a clash with Watford in two days’ time, manager Pep Guardiola will certainly be hoping for good news after both players undergo tests.
