Cuttack, April 18: Riding on a brilliant all-round show by Rama Chandra Majhi, KISS registered a thumping 158-run victory over Secondary Board High School (SBHS) to enter the semifinals of the PV Murthy Inter-School cricket tournament at the Bhuvanananda Engineering Ground here Saturday.
Opting to bat first, KISS posted a mammoth total of 208 in the stipulated 25 overs for the loss of nine wickets. Sushant Majhi (56, 34b, 9×4)and Rama Chandra (46, 38b, 5×4, 1×6) batted well. Sibasundar Sahoo (3/42) and Jnameendra Acharya (3/24) bowled well to share six wickets among themselves.
In reply, SBHS were bundled out for 50 runs in 13.1 overs against some restrictive and disciplined bowling by Subash Chandra Mallick (4/8) and Rama Chandra (3/6). Rama Chandra was adjudged the man of the match for his all-round show.
JAA advance
Jagatpur Athletic Association (JAA) beat Star XI by six wickets to advance into the semifinals of the PVR Murthy Inter-Club cricket tournament at the Bose Ground here Saturday.
Star XI scored 110 runs in 18.2 overs against some incisive bowling by Tapas Lenka (3/25). In reply, JAA chased down the target with ease in 18.4 overs for the loss of four wickets with Anurag Kanojia (46) emerging as the highest scorer.
Sushree selected
Orissa woman’s cricketer Sushree Pradhan has been selected by BCCI to undergo training at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) in Bangalore. The camp will start April 22.
Football camp
FAO will organise a training camp for the National Sub-junior U-15 Girls’ Football Championship here starting May 1. “Gitanjali Khuntia, Gayatri Mallick and Ranjita Mallick have been appointed as the coaches for the camp,” FAO stated in a press release Saturday.
