Washington, Dec 4: President-elect Donald Trump has reacted to a comedy sketch that mocked his penchant for sending tweets — by sending a tweet. Trump again lambasted the show “Saturday Night Live,” on which he is played by actor Alec Baldwin. But whereas on other occasions Trump has tweeted his criticism the next morning, this time he fired away before the show ended. “Just tried watching Saturday Night Live – unwatchable! Totally biased, not funny and the Baldwin impersonation just can’t get any worse. Sad,” Trump wrote. In the latest sketch, Trump is gently chided by aides for sending re-tweets, one from a high school student, during a national security briefing.
Actress Kate McKinnon’s Kellyanne Conway, a Trump strategist, said the President-elect tweets a lot to “to distract the media from his business conflicts and all the very scary people in his cabinet.” But Trump as played by Baldwin said, “actually that’s not why I do it. I do it because my brain is bad.” After Trump’s tweet, Baldwin himself tweeted: “Release your tax returns and I’ll stop. Ha.” Meanwhile, US President-elect Donald Trump Sunday warned of imposing a whopping tax of 35 per cent on products made by American companies that either outsource jobs overseas or build a new factory in another country. This could have an impact on plans of several American companies that are planning to establish manufacturing base in India to take advantage of the ‘Make in India’ policies unveiled by the Indian government. “Expensive mistake,” Trump told all such American companies in a series of tweets.
Doctor in US sacked
Los Angeles: A US doctor has been fired after calling First Lady Michelle Obama “monkey face” and saying she spoke in “poor ebonic English”, weeks after a police officer was fired for posting her racist Facebook memes. Michelle Herren, a pediatric anaesthesiologist, was fired from the University of Colorado Denver School of Medicine where she held an unpaid faculty position. She also quit her post as a pediatric anaesthesiologist at Denver Health Medical Centre, the facility confirmed.
CNN apologises
Washington: CNN has apologised to Donald Trump after one of its producers was caught on a hot mic making a joke about the President-elect’s plane crashing. “An unfortunate and inappropriate remark was made by one of our producers off camera Saturday,” a CNN spokesperson told Business Insider in a statement. “We have apologised to the Trump transition team, and the producer has been disciplined,” the spokesperson said. As correspondent Suzanne Malveaux prepared for a live shot at Carrier’s Indianapolis plant Thursday, a producer was heard discussing various hand signals with her.
Trump junks registry for Muslims?
New York: Has US President-elect Donald Trump dumped his controversial plan to set up a registry for Muslims or immigrants from majority-Muslim countries? According to prominent Arab-American stand-up comedian Mo Amer, the answer is yes. Amer, who found himself sitting next to Eric Trump, son of US President-elect, on a flight to Scotland, and quickly used the opportunity to discuss what will happen to Muslims under the Trump administration. “Good news guys will not have to check in and get IDs,” Mo Amer wrote in a recent Facebook post, which also had a picture of him sitting down next to the son of the President-elect. “That’s what I was told.”
