New Delhi: Puri Lok Sabha MP Pinaki Mishra (BJD) Tuesday met Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu at the Parliament House to raise important pending issues as the House failed to function Tuesday.
The MP spent around 20 minutes with the Union minister and reportedly discussed an array of issues related to the ongoing railway projects and others. Mishra also urged the minister to take steps to step up the ongoing railway projects in the state.
The Puri MP said, “The meeting was meant to discuss several railway related issues. I discussed around five-six issues related to his ministry during a 20-minute discussion.”
Mishra told Orissa POST that he urged the minister to take steps to ensure timely completion of Khurda-Bolangir rail project.
Other rail-related issues raised by him include steps to carry forward the proposal of transforming Puri railway station into an international one keeping in mind the huge tourist footfalls at the religious site.
The rail minister asked the Orissa MP to furnish the details of all his requests expressed his willingness to consider the requests.
Later, the minister posted the details of his meeting with the Puri MP at Parliament House Tuesday on Twitter.
The meeting of the Orissa MP comes at a time when the Monsoon Session of the Parliament has been marred by the cacophony of the opposition parties and other procedural obligations like Presidential and Vice presidential elections.
