Khuntuni: A motorcyclist sustained critical injuries after being hit by an unidentified truck near Khuntuni police station on National Highway 55 here in the early hours of Monday.
The injured was identified as Pradeep Sahu, a resident of Banki. According to police, Sahu was coming from Cuttack on his bike when a speeding truck hit him from behind and sped away. Sahu suffered multiple injuries in the accident and was rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition by some police personnel.
Sources said such hit-and-run cases have become a regular affair on this particular stretch of the NH as no action is being taken against over-speeding vehicles.
