Puri: A joyride for four friends turned tragic when the car they were travelling by rammed into a tree near Tikina Bridge on Puri-Konark Marine Drive Road here late Sunday night. The accident claimed the life of one, while three others were critically injured.
The deceased was identified as Nanda Kishore Mohapatra (35), while the injured include Kalyan Keshari Samantray, Suman Patra and Sipra Behera – all residents of Bhubaneswar.
“We have handed over Mohapatra’s body to his family members. A case of unnatural death has been registered in this regard. Further actions will be taken accordingly,” Ramchandi police said.
Police said the four friends were on a trip to the Holy City and were returning to Bhubaneswar around 2.30am when the mishap occurred.
