1 global fest, 200 dancers; venue here

Bhubaneswar, July 18: More than 200 dancers, scholars and exponents of different dance styles from India and abroad will participate in the fourth edition of India International Dance Festival (IIDF) at Bhanja Kala Mandap. The event will kick-start from July 20 and continue till July 23. The event will be organised by Samskritiki cultural society. IIDF was also organised India Cities Indian cities, including Bengaluru, Hyderabad, New Delhi and North East. “The motto behind organising the event is to celebrate dance sans divisions. It seeks to bring together tribal, folk, classical, martial and contemporary dance styles on a common platform. It will strengthen the bonds among countries and cultures through dance. It will also highlight Bhubaneswar as a city of culture and promote cultural tourism in the state. Dancers and dance researchers from Argentina, Australia, China, Japan, Singapore, Thailand, Middle East and USA are joining this festival in additions to a large number of dancers from all over India,” Shyamhari Chakra, member of the organising team said. The dance styles that will be featured in IIDF Bhubaneswar include Bharatanatyam, Kathak, Kuchipudi, Odissi, Manipuri, Mohiniattyam and Sattriya.
The event will also include seminars, screening of films and documentaries on dance, exhibition of books, journals, brochures, DVDs and photographs on dance. The participants will also visit cultural institutions like the Orissa State Museum, Tribal Museum, GKCM Odissi Research Centre, temples and heritage sites in and around Bhubaneswar, Konark and Puri.
