The guardians of the children had earlier lodged a written complaint with the district labour officer about this January 2. The copies of the complaint were also sent to the chief minister, the labour commissioner, the district collector and the superintendent of police.
The state labour commissioner’s office had contacted Tamil Nadu labour commissioner, after which the children were rescued, said the assistant labour officer.

A labour agent of Udala had taken these children to Chennai in April 2014, promising them high wages.
