Malkangiri: At a time when patients are dying after not being able to receive ambulance service on time, hospital ambulance here is being used to ferry furniture to different places.
In one of the incidents, an ambulance was seen parked outside Malkangiri District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and furniture was being put inside made ready to be transported in it.
Reportedly, the ambulance (OD 02N 7762) had carried an ailing patient from Kalimela to Malkangiri DHH and on its way back it was ferrying furniture near DNK Chowk here.
A pharmacist and the ambulance driver were seen loading the furniture into the emergency service vehicle.
Such incidents are not new here. Earlie,r an ambulance was photographed when it used for personal use. The photograph had gone viral and the authorities had promised to take necessary actions against the defaulters but nothing happened.
The patients often complain about the absence of ambulances when they need it but they are not available and instead are seen being used for personal works.
