Chhatrapur: At least 13 kanwariyas, including the driver, sustained injuries when a mini truck they were travelling in overturned Sunday on National Highway 16 near Mayapatana Square under Chamakhandi police limits in Ganjam district.
Local residents, highway patrol personnel and police rescued the injured kanwariyas and admitted them to the Chhatrapur Sub-Divisional Hospital.
The driver, who was found in critical condition, was later shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Brahmapur.
The kanwariyas, from the Jagadalpur area under Nimakhandi police limits, were traveling in the mini truck towards the Rushikulya river in Ganjam to collect water as offering to Lord Aleswar Mahadev temple.
The vehicle lost balance and overturned at Mayapatana, injuring all those traveling in it.
