13 more sheep killed in Niali

Niali: It seems that there is no end to the death of sheep in attack by mysterious animals in the locality here.
The elusive animals killed 13 sheep and injured six others at Debera under Badakorkor panchayat here Wednesday night.
Sources said the mysterious creatures entered a pen of villager Pramod Swain and killed 10 sheep apart from injuring six others. The animals also targeted a pen at the backyard of Pramod’s neighbour Ugrasena Swain and killed three sheep.
On being informed, Niali veterinary officer reached the village and conducted post-mortem on the dead sheep.
Villagers, meanwhile, alleged that the administration has failed to trace the killer animals and take steps to save sheep of poor farmers. “The administration is only providing Rs 2,000 compensation to farmers for each sheep death. But, it has taken no step to trace the killer animals,” said a villager.
