Baisinga: Police have detained a 13-year-old boy after he allegedly took a six-year-old girl, a relative, into a nearby forest and sexually assaulted her in Baisinga police station area of Mayurbhanj district.
According to the complaint, the girl was playing outside her house Sunday evening when the boy allegedly lured her towards the forest. After committing the assault, he allegedly threatened her against telling anyone about the incident. The matter came to light after the girl fell ill and her family questioned her.
She was initially taken to Baisinga hospital and later shifted to Betanoti hospital on medical advice. The girl’s father subsequently lodged a complaint at Baisinga police station.
Police registered a case (484/26) and detained the boy for questioning. An investigation is underway under the supervision of Sub-Inspector Ashok Kumar Patra. The boy, who had been studying in Class VII at a nearby residential school, has reportedly discontinued his studies.
