Kendrapara: Marine police Friday arrested a 40-year old married man for outraging the modesty of a 13-year old girl who was studying in Class VIII last Wednesday in broad daylight after finding her alone. Nityananda Mistry, a resident of Kharanashi village, committed the crime when the girl was moving near the river bank at Tubi ghat near forest bit office, said Priyabrata Dash, IIC of Jamboo marine police station.
The girl told this to her parents. The victim’s mother Thursday lodged an FIR at Jamboo marine police station. Acting on the FIR, police registered a case against Mistry under sections 354(b) of IPC and section 8 of POCSO Act.
The accused was arrested Friday and forwarded to jail.
