Nayagarh: The snake helpline personnel Saturday rescued a 14- foot-long python from Banikilo village of Balabhadrapur panchayat under Ranpur block in Nayagarh district.
Locals said the python had killed a goat but could not swallow it.
Some villagers spotted the python and informed the snake helpline. The python was later released to a nearby forest.
Most snakes are burrowing reptiles and they spend most of their time underground, but during the monsoon, their hiding places usually get flooded and they are forced to venture into human habitations, said a forest official.
