Bhadrak: A crowd of villagers claimed to have “rescued” 150 cows and bullocks from a cattle-laden container at Bishnupur on the National Highway 16 here Thursday morning.
The villagers suspected that cattle were being transported illegally. A Bolero van on escort was also stopped and attacked by the crowd. The rural police rushed to the spot and seized the vehicles.
The cattle were being trafficked to West Bengal illegally, it was suspected. A police investigation was on.
