Bhubaneswar, June 10: A 16-frame vista of moments spanning nature, heritage, culture and emotion is on display at Walking BookFairs. The three-day photo exhibition titled ‘16’, which started Friday, features works of Orissa-based professional photographers Sunnil Kalinndi and Sankar Kanhar.
Bhubaneswar-based Sunnil has received fame for the distinct taste in capturing fleeting moments and emotions. Sunnil on the other hand, is known for finding aesthetics in micro subjects.
Sunnil told Orissa POST: “I have been doing photography for 10 years and was determined from childhood to become a career photographer. I stepped out in 2006 to gain knowledge from a good institution and am doing a course in photography at International Institute of Photography, Kolkata.”
Sunnil is keen on capturing unseen places and objects through his lenses. His photo of a temple in Gajapati district had revived interest in the shrine that had fallen into neglect.
Sunnil says he has already showcased his creations at 15 photo exhibitions across the state.
Sankar, in turn, is well-known for evocative pictures and capability of telling stories through the frames. He works on abstract photography.
“I used to work in a company for seven years. But my passion was for photography and I left that job to become a fulltime photographer. Skill and passion are necessary to achieve success, especially in photography,” he said. His photo of a tulsi plant growing on a statue, on show at ‘16’ was much appreciated by visitors.
The photographers have been doing wedding and event photography as well. They say the demand for wedding photography has increased over the last three years. The duo is also scheduled to hold a street photography and wedding photography exhibition in the city in the coming days.
‘16’ has been witnessing good crowds. “Each photograph is eye-catching. I believe these photographs will be sold for a high price,” Suren, a visitor, said.
