19 Oriyas to get Shram Awards

New Delhi: The Ministry of Labour and Employment Thursday announced selection of 19 Oriyas for the Prime Minister (PM) Shram Awards for 2016 under different categories.

Most of the awards under the categories have been bagged by the employees working with the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Rourkela and Paradip Phosphates. According to the list, eight awards under the Shram Bhushan Awards category will be given to the employees from Orissa. They are Sabita Panda, Raj Kishore Sahu, Birendra Kumar Sahoo, Jhasaketan Mishra, Niranjan Majhi, Manoj Kumar Gharai, Rabindra Kumar Bishoyi and Sunaram Murmu, all employees of SAIL, Rourkela.

Similarly, six from Orissa have been picked for the PM Shram Vir/Virangana awards. Aditya Naik, Biswanath Murmu, Salomy Panna, Prafulla Kumar Patra, Sanjay Kumar Sahoo from SAIL Rourkela while Daitary Bindhani from the Paradip Phosphate Ltd also has been chosen for the award.

Meanwhile, five names from Orissa have been selected for the PM Shram Shree-/Devi Awards. These include- Bholanath Behera, Arjuna Charan Behera, Manoranjan Sahu, Ramesh Kumar Nayak and Tapas Ranjan Sahu, all from SAIL, Rourkela.

Shram Awards are given in four categories – ‘Shram Ratna Award’, ‘Shram Bhushan Award’, ‘Shram Vir/Shram Virangana’ and ‘Shram Shree/Shram Devi Award’.

The Ministry of Labour and Employment announces Prime Minister’s Shram Awards every year. These awards are given to the workers in the Public Sector Undertakings, Departmental Undertakings of the Central and the state governments and private sector units employing 500 or more workers in recognition of their distinguished performance, innovative ability, outstanding contribution in the field of productivity and exhibition of exceptional courage and presence of mind.
