Bhubaneswar: In what exposes the appalling state of technical education in state, no student has taken admission in as many as 19 private Industrial Training Institutes/Centres (ITIs/ITCs) in the state for three consecutive academic session – from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
Accordingly, the state government has urged Directorate General of Training, New Delhi, to initiate steps for de-affiliation of these ITIs along with other private ITIs where irregularities were found during a joint inspection.
According to the state Directorate of Technical Education and Training (DTET), Regional ITC at Banarpal in Angul, Rajendra Narayan Institute of ITC at Narasinghapur in Cuttack, Mnorama Institute of Education and Technology in Jagatsinghpur, Archik ITC in Jajpur, Maa Barala Devi ITC in Kandhamal, Pratikar ITC at Champua and Park Lane in Keonjhar, ITC-Neheru Seva Sadan in Khurda, ITC Kotpad in Koraput, Narayanee and Ramchandi ITCs in Nayagarh, Maa Mangala ITC in Puri, Durga Rani ITC in Mayurbhanj, Pvt ITC in Puri, three private ITCS in Rayagada, ITC Raghunathpali in Sundargarh and Orissa ITC at Mancheswar in Bhubaneswar failed to enroll any student during last three academic sessions – 2015-16, 2016-17 and 2017-18.
Officials in the DTET o said that during joint inspections by DTET teams in Ganjam, Khurda, Balasore, Mayurbhanj and Cuttack it was found that 12 ITIs were locked, while in nine cases the concerned private ITIs had shifted their location from the affiliated jurisdiction without permission from concerned authority.
Buildings of Idea ITC at Thakurmunda and GC Bala ITC in Mayurbhanj were found in dilapidated condition and no training activity was carried out at these centres, an official said.
Revealing more irregularities in private ITIs in the state, Technical Education director Balwant Singh has in a letter to Directorate General of Training (DGT), New Delhi, urged the latter to initiate de-affiliation process of all these erring private ITIs as per the guidelines of DGT.
The DGT has already served show-cause notices to six ITIs, Singh said.
