Rourkela: The Plant Site police here cracked a kidnap and gangrape case and arrested two auto-rickshaw drivers.
The accused have been identified as Manish Prasad and Rahul Prasad Soni. Police sources said, the two accused have confessed to the crime before the police. Both were booked under Sections 376 (D) and 323 of IPC.
Briefing the media Saturday, Rourkela deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Pradyumna Mishra said, “The victim was returning home from duty July 28. When she didn’t turn up till 9.30 pm, her family lodged a missing complaint. She returned home July 30 following which a gangrape case was lodged. It was alleged that two youths took her forcibly in an auto-rickshaw and raped her.”
“The auto-rickshaw drivers are involved in it. They had put up the survivor in a rented house having introduced her as their girlfriend. However, we have arrested the two. Today they will be sent to court,” the DSP said.
“The two had taken the girl in an auto-rickshaw to a house in Timber Colony in Gopabandhupalli area in the city,” he added.
